How to connect a Vendor Service to a Service Order?

Hi,

We sometimes use Vendors to provide services as well as just buying parts from them.  So I would like to create a PR or similar, to order a Service from a Vendor but have that connected back to the Service Order (similar to using a PR to order Parts for a Service Order).  Is there a way to do that?

If I try to do it with a PR separately, I see two issues:

  1. It wants to receive the “Service” into a warehouse
  2. I cannot find a way to reference it back to the Service order

Any suggestions welcome, thanks

Sorry, should have mentioned we are using V14.5 currently.

Hi Chris, 

 

You can use activities as external activity on service order to get the service from vendor. This way you can link the activity, material with the external vendor. Please see below.

Hi Chris,

What Eisha suggests is fine for activities however I think you asked about a Service product.  You should be able to create a PR for a Service product in v14.5  just as you do for Materials.  I have not tested the whole process but seems to me this should work.

Both are good answers but using Service Products fits better as we can then use a PR as well.  Thank you Both.

I thought you could use a PR on the Activity too looking at the screen shot Eisha provided.

Yes, you are right.  I got confused because it got added to the PR I created for the Service.  I wish I could choose best answer for both because they are both good solutions!
